SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is a classic two-dimensional tactical RPG game in which heroes and mechs from many different animated and comic book series from the Gundam banner meet. The developer of the title is the Japanese company Bandai Namco. The SD Gundam G Generation series was born in 1996 on the SNES console and since then has received dozens of views on virtually all major hardware platforms that appeared within nearly a quarter of a century after its debut. Most of the series' productions were released exclusively in Japan, and due to low interest and licensing problems, they never found their way to Western Gundam fans.

The duels in SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays take place on large two-dimensional boards, presented from a top-down perspective. While playing, we command units consisting of various types of mechs and combat machines. Each of the robots is described with a number of statistics and has modifiable weapons that affect the number and strength of available attacks. Pilots also play an important role. By taking part in subsequent missions, they gain experience that unlocks new abilities that facilitate and accelerate our battles. Combat takes place in turn-based mode, and players move their machines on a board covered with a grid of fields.
