The Long Journey Home is a science fiction game with roguelike, strategy and survival elements, developed by Daedalic Entertainment's in-house development studio.
Story
The game tells the story of the crew of the prototype spacecraft, which is the first unit in the history of mankind to be equipped with a super-light drive. During the maiden flight, the jump was only planned for a short distance. However, there was an accident, as a result of which the ship was thrown into a remote and completely unexplored region of the galaxy. The player takes on the role of the captain and has to find a way to return home.
Gameplay
The background of the action is a vast stretch of space, densely populated with planets, adventures and alien races. The creators made it possible to visit it without any restrictions: we choose the route, tasks and the way of their implementation ourselves. It is necessary to gather resources, fight enemies, search for artifacts of extinct civilizations, and deal with natural forces such as gravitational anomalies, radiation or extremely high temperatures. It is also possible to land on surfaces and obtain materials there, and to complete quests commissioned by other races. The game has a gravitational force simulation system. When steering a ship, we have to correct the orbits of the celestial bodies and plan the course to limit fuel loss.
