Oriental Empires is a PC turn-based 4X strategy game. It was developed by Ntronium Games studio, and the project was led by Robert T. Smith, who served as the lead designer on Medieval II: Total War and Armada 2526. The action takes place in ancient China and the authors' aim was to realistically recreate the history and civilization of this country. The game covers a period of three thousand years - from 1500 BC. up to 1500. We start the game as the leader of a small tribe and our task is, of course, to transform him into a great empire. To this end, we cultivate the land, collect resources, build new cities, and recruit and train amia. It is necessary to establish laws, construct buildings, conduct research on new technologies, as well as develop culture and take care of satisfying the religious needs of subordinates. The latter plays a crucial role as the ultimate goal of the player is to make his emperor universally recognized by Chinese society as the Son of Heaven and the rightful ruler of the world. Of course, not only we have a taste for the title of emperor, so it is necessary to subjugate other parties, which we can do both by force and diplomacy. In total, there are sixteen factions in the game with unique features, and at the beginning of the game we choose which one to lead. All of this takes place on a large map that accurately recreates the geography of China and Mongolia. During the game, we will also not avoid wars. Battles are impressive in size and can be played by thousands of units. The creators made sure that within each division, different faces and clothes were clearly visible, so that we did not command clone armies. The clashes are played in a turn-based system, on the same map on which we manage the empire. Direct control over the armies is very limited - we only give general orders and establish formations, and then on this basis the artificial intelligence plays the battle, and we only passively observe its course.
