BattleTech is a tactical strategy game with action set in the title universe - a world full of bloody conflicts and ruthless mercenaries. The whole thing is a refreshment of the cult brand of figure battle games , which was first released in digital form on PC in 1988, thanks to Westwood studio. The production was developed by the developer Harebrained Schemes, who has, among others, the Shadowrun trilogy .
Story
In 3025, the galaxy is devastated by the relentless conflict between the aristocratic families that govern entire planets and even sectors of the cosmos. Due to the ban on the use of nuclear weapons and orbital bombardments, powerful combat machines called mechs are used in the fights . The player takes on the role of the commander of a mercenary unit, who is drawn into a brutal, interstellar civil war and helps the deprived queen to regain the throne seized by the usurper.
Gameplay
The gameplay in BattleTech can be divided into two parts. The first is turn-based clashes, during which we control our pilots and use their machines , weapons, special skills and varied terrain to outsmart the enemy. We most often observe the battlefield from an isometric perspective, but while performing attacks and movements, the camera changes its position (similar to e.g. in the XCOM cycle ). However, for better readability of the battlefield, the tracking options can be turned off, focusing only on the overall view of the battlefield. Managing mercenaries and combat machines and commissioning missions takes place in real time , similar to the above-mentioned series of Firaxis studio. Therefore, it is necessary to closely follow the tables of expenses and revenues, because in extreme cases it may happen that our lance (i.e. a combat squad consisting of four machines) will be grounded and for some time we will not be able to undertake any task (for example if our mechanics fail to repair damaged mechs, which requires both cash and time).
