Andrew D. Gordon: Outta Sight Funk And R&B Patterns For Drums

The Solo Workout For Guitar

Medieval Music For Mandolin Bk 2 Bk/Cd

Medieval Music For Mandolin Bk 2 Bk/Cd

Medieval Mandolin Voume 2 by Allan Alexander. These medieval pieces sound great on the mandolin. They also lay right under the fingers. There is both notation and TAB and no page turns for any of the pieces in this book. The reason? This book is made for musicians, by musicians. You can get the book with a CD and the guitar and mandolin are separate tracks. You can turn the mandolin totally off and play with the cd. There is no "Tick Tick" before the pieces, instead there are two measures of intro with the guitar, so you can sit and listen to the CD and become familiar with the pieces without it sounding like a learning CD. There are chords with the music and at the end of the book, there are examples of what the guitar is doing for many of the tunes in both tablature and notation. These tunes sound terrific, and are a great addition to any repertoire. You can use them for any kind of gig, or you can try doing some medieval fairs, medieval feasts or medieval weddings. The bowl back mandolin looks so much like the lute, most people would never know the difference. Often when I play the lute, they ask me if it's a mandolin. I play lute, guitar and more recently mandolin. I know the music. These pieces are particulary suited for the sound of the mandolin. I love playing them. The book is beautiful and scored professionally. The paper is heavy stock. The titles may not make a lot of sense, but these are great pieces. Many have variations to make them longer.

Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves For Flute

Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves For Flute

Internationally renowned authors, musicians and recording artists, Frank Villafranca and Andrew D. Gordon of The Super Groovers have composed a collection of grooves and melodies in the Smooth Jazz Genre creating an exciting supplemental jazz study series for beginner, intermediate and advanced jazz students and musicians. After releasing their first CD Supergroovin, which received world wide airplay, they recognized a need in the music publishing business for a series of books on contemporary improvising within the "Smooth Jazz" genre. Andrew composed and recorded all the rhythm tracks used in this book. In their opinion, the melodies were so catchy they couldn't resist developing them into completed songs. Mainline Connection, Villefranche?sur-Mer and You're The Only One In My Life, are a few featured on their second CD, Mainline Connection. The smooth jazz grooves in this 50 page book feature a variety of contemporary rhythm section styles including R&B, Jazz, Funk, Top 40, Rock, Gospel, Hip Hop and Latin. These stylistic influences are frequently associated with smooth jazz. Popular artists in this genre include, The Super Groovers, David Sanborn, Eric Marienthal, Kenny G, David Benoit, Dave Koz, Tom Scott, Gerald Albright, Candy Dulfer, Wilton Felder, Boney James, Chris Botti, Chuck Mangione, Sade, George Benson, Peter White, Lee Ritenour, Earl Klugh, Larry Carlton, Jeff Lorber, Brian Culbertson, George Duke, Paul Hardcastle, Joe Sample, Spyro Gyra, Pat Metheny, Four Play, The Yellow Jackets and The Rippingtons. We suggest that you become acquainted with as many of these artists as possible. On each of the 20 tracks, the groove is separated into 3 melodic ideas. Each melodic idea (example or riff) is played first, by the Flute with the groove, followed by just the rhythm section groove, without the Flute. The 1st example is usually the easiest, the 2nd slightly harder and the 3rd the most difficult. Versions for each groove are available as midi files or extended MP3 files where the rhythm tracks for each groove are recorded for approximately 2 minutes.   Customer Comments   I have just been given your book as a christmas present - and I am so happy to have it! Your grooves are amazing! I feel like it is really inspriring. The book was bought from Musicroom in Brighton on Western Road. My favourites so far are track 1,2 and 4... I'm on the second riff so far and they are so good!! Thank you for making the book :)

Gordon of ADG Productions has recently updated and added to his popular series of books with 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs ? The Beginner Series. The original publication by the same title is geared toward intermediate to advanced students. Both books feature a companion CD and optional midi files that will help in the practice of these 100 blues riffs.I had the opportunity to preview the tenor saxophone books from the series; however the same books are published for other instruments as well. Saxophonist Frank Villafranca of the Super Groovers demonstrates each riff with the rhythm section first with and opportunity for play-along following each demo track. Andrew Gordon writes, ?For people who want to improve their ear training skills, you may want t o listen to the saxophone part and then try to duplicate what is played on the CD. I personally find I am able to memorize music quicker when I pick music out by ear than from musical notation.?As you play through the books, you will see there is some overlapping of the riffs used. In the case of the beginner series, there are some riffs that are essentially the same but with some large leaps in the lines changed - presumably to facilitate younger players.Whether reading the 100 riffs or picking them up by ear, the book can have many uses. It is good for sightreading in the style, short improvisational work or developing the ear.The clean, well-laid out books should offer a springboard into further study of the blues and improvisation.
