1 Kings 1 to 11, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes - John F. Macarthur - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Solomon is known as the wisest man who ever lived. His writings in the Old Testament range from practical, pithy proverbs to beautiful romantic poetry—and all are filled with his knowledge and insights. Yet behind those writings stood a flawed man who was conflicted between deep wisdom and tragic folly. Sadly, the king who warned against so many sins did not follow his own advice, and he wound up leading Israel into idolatry. Nevertheless, his life and writings provide valuable lessons for us today in the twenty-first century. In this study, pastor John MacArthur will guide you through an in-depth look at the historical period beginning with Solomon''s ascent to the throne and continuing through his tragic end. Studies include close-up examinations of the vital importance of wisdom—with portraits of the wise woman, the foolish sluggard, and others in the book of Proverbs—and careful considerations of doctrinal themes such as "True Wisdom from God" and "A Time for Everything." —ABOUT THE SERIES— The MacArthur Bible Study series is designed to help you study the Word of God with guidance from widely respected pastor and author John MacArthur. Each guide provides intriguing examinations of the whole of Scripture by examining its parts and incorporates: - Extensive, but straight-forward commentary on the text. - Detailed observations on overriding themes, timelines, history, and context. - Word and phrase studies to help you unlock the broader meaning and apply it to your life. - Probing, interactive questions with plenty of space to write down your response and thoughts.

Moving Mountains Study Guide - John Eldredge - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Moving Mountains Study Guide - John Eldredge - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

In Luke 11:1, the disciples asked Jesus, "Teach us to pray!" Most of us want to know more about how prayer works. While we are used to offering up prayers, we wonder if we are praying in the most effective way or if we are approaching the throne of God in the "right" way. We ask ourselves: - How do I listen for God? - How do I pray for healing? - How do I pray when I am under spiritual attack? - How do I pray to break through strongholds of habitual sin? - How do I pray for protection? - How do I pray for my lost friends and family? In this eight-session video Bible study (DVD/digital video sold separately), bestselling author John Eldredge shows how we labor under the misconception that prayer is asking God to intervene instead of partnering with him to get things done. This faulty assumption leads to untold confusion and grief when we ask of God but can''t sense He hears us—or even cares. Rather, Jesus says, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:19). When we operate from this position, we approach prayer with far greater confidence. We understand we have a role in making change happen and are not victims of circumstance—that we are sons and daughters of God bestowed with tremendous authority. Sessions include: 1) There Is a Way Things Work 1) The Cry of the Heart 1) The Prayer of Intervention 1) The Prayer of Consecration 1) Listening Prayer 1) Warfare Prayer 1) Healing Prayer 1) Holding the Heart in Unanswered Prayer Designed for use with the Moving Mountains Video Study (sold separately).

The Fight to Flourish Study Guide with DVD - Jennie Lusko - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

The Fight to Flourish Study Guide with DVD - Jennie Lusko - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Flourishing . Is that a word you would use to describe yourself, or only someone else? Does the idea of flourishing in life seem out of reach for you? Do you assume that you''ll have to wait until after you have gotten through your current struggle before you can figure out how to flourish? This might seem counterintuitive, but flourishing actually begins during the struggle. It''s in the fight through the pain that we can begin to thrive. In The Fight to Flourish , Jennie Lusko points out that just like some plants need darkness to grow, it''s the dark and difficult times that God uses to grow our faith. Drawing on her experiences after the loss of her five-year-old daughter, Lenya, Jennie shows us that the ingredients for a fresh and thriving life can be found by fighting through even our most difficult days. In this study, Jennie teaches these key lessons: - Whether we''re wallowing in disappointment, crushed by heartache, or seeing stars from one of life''s sucker punches, we can allow the Light of the World to shine through us. - In order to flourish, we have to tend to our spirituality by cultivating our spiritual garden. - We fight through distractions, insecurities, and feelings of being underqualified or overwhelmed by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus. - Instead of shutting down and isolating during a trying season, cultivate vulnerability, transparency, and deep friendships. - Being forced out of our comfort zone can move us in a new direction of growth, learning, and maturity, where we flourish to capacity, even in and through our pain. God can help us make the most out of our struggle, because a flourishing life in every season is worth fighting for. Sessions include: 1) The Fight in the Dark (15:00) 1) Don’t Bloom Where You’re Planted (12:00) 1) Ready, Set, Live! Love Does Study Guide with DVD - Bob Goff - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Love Does Study Guide with DVD - Bob Goff - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Love isn''t a feeling. It''s an activity. It''s something you do . And participating in the act of love is the secret to understanding God''s love--the secret to a life well lived. Building on the foundation of the New York Times bestseller, Love Does , the Love Does video study is a case study in love done--a love that''s practical, functional, active. Not a "love" that has all the right answers. Not a "love" with ulterior motives. Not a "love" that''s all talk or paralyzed by doubt. But a radically alive love that''s an intentional participation in God''s world. How is that kind of love done? The how is what this study is about. Real growth happens when you learn how to tap into the empowering, energizing love of God. Using it fills you. Risking it secures you. Giving it satisfies you. Each of the five sessions in the Love Does video study explores a different aspect of God''s active love through Bob Goff''s teachings and stories: - I''m With You - we''ve been given the invitation to love. Taking it seriously is where life meets faith. - Free to Fail - exploring the nature of failure, how it works, and what God does with it. - Audacious Love - understanding why receiving love is essential to giving love. - Be Not Afraid - chasing out the anxieties that keep us from acting and living the life that Jesus has called us to. - Follow Me - delving into how to bring our passions and plans together and bind them to God''s plan. This study guide provides teaching notes, discussion questions, Bible study, between-session activities and a practical application called "Putting Love into Action," which gives you the opportunity to put the principles you have learned into real-life practice. It''s time to step off the ledge and fall into God''s immeasurable love. Sessions include: 1) I’m With You (8:00) 1) Free to Fail (14:00) 1) Audacious Love (8:00) 1) Be Not Afraid (15:00) 1) Follow Me (11:00) This pack contains: - Love Does Study Guide - Love Does Video Study DVD

Romans Bible Study - Kevin G. Harney - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Romans Bible Study - Kevin G. Harney - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Christians in the first century lived in a world ruled by Rome. The vast size of the Roman Empire meant that it incorporated many different people groups who followed many different religions. Christians were thus often confronted with practices mandated by the local authorities where they lived that went against their faith in Jesus. But even more problematic, they were also often confronted with worldviews and systems of belief that went against their faith. This was especially true of the believers who lived in the capital city of Rome. So it was that when Paul decided to visit the city, he first sent them a letter outlining the key principles and "doctrines" of the Christian faith. Paul explained what humans are really like (sinful), what God has done to provide an escape from the consequences of humanity''s sin, and what a lifestyle that goes out of a Christian worldview looks like. Today, we need to know the same! We need to have a deep understanding of what we believe so we know how to respond when faced with other beliefs that go against Christ. Each study in the NIV Application Commentary Resources series employs a three-step process to help you understand both the historical meaning of a biblical text and its relevance in modern times. The original meaning section reveals the questions and concerns the author was addressing. John Bible Study - Gary M. Burge - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

In many ways, John''s Gospel functions as both a Gospel and a letter. As a Gospel, it tells the story of Jesus and his role as revealer of God the Father and provider of redemption to all humanity. As a letter, it encouraged first-century Christians in the life they had chosen, revealed how life in Christ was different from Judaism, and corrected false teachings (like those of the Gnostics). But fundamentally, John''s Gospel narrates the life of Jesus and reveals that he was truly the Son of God. Jesus had lived in the flesh among the people. John, being one of Jesus'' closest disciples, had witnessed Jesus teaching those who followed him, seen the miracles that he had performed, and was there when he was crucified and then raised from the dead. Yet in spite of all the miraculous signs, pointed teachings, and resurrection, there were still questions about Jesus'' divinity. So John sought, through his own personal testimony, to reveal why Jesus was fully divine while also being fully human. John made it clear that Jesus would be filled with power from the Holy Spirit and that when Christ left the earth, he made that same power available to all his followers—both in the first century and for followers today. Twelve Extraordinary Women Workbook, Revised and Updated - John F. Macarthur - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Most of the women we encounter in the pages of the Bible would be considered “unremarkable” today. They were common, ordinary, and in some cases had a shockingly low position in their society. For instance, the unnamed Samaritan Woman whom Jesus met at a well was clearly looked down upon by her fellow townspeople. Anna, who encountered the infant Jesus at the temple, was an obscure and elderly widow. Rahab was prostitute. Even Mary, the mother of Jesus, as a young girl of no distinction, living in an obscure town in a barren district of Galilee. Only Eve is the true exception, who began life as someone quite extraordinary—and even after sin entered into the picture, she became a representation of the truth that God can redeem those who fall and make them “extraordinary” again. In fact, this what the Lord in the lives of all the women in the Bible whom we might consider unremarkable. They became extraordinary because the one true God whom they served is great, mighty, glorious, and awesome and refined them like silver and gold. The women in Scripture thus serve as a reminder of both our fallenness and our potential. They are never relegated to the background in the social and religious life of Israel and the New Testament church. Rather, we see them partaking in the feasts and public worship in Israel, sharing teaching responsibilities and authority over their children, administering many of the affairs of their households, and owning land. All of this stands in sharp contrast to the way other ancient cultures routinely degraded and debased women. Yet God held women—and all people—in high esteem and had great plans for them. The Twelve Extraordinary Men Workbook is completely revised and updated.
