Nest metoder - inspiration til inkluderende fællesskaber er en beskrivelse af metoder, der anvendes i Nest programmets indskolingsklasser, hvor børn med og uden autisme undervises sammen. Metoderne er bygget op omkring fire kategorier, som refererer til områder, hvor børn med autisme typisk har brug for støtte: - Socialt samspil - Kontakt og kommunikation - Selvregulering - Overblik og struktur. I Nest klasser er metoderne en del af den fælles pædagogiske tilgang i klassen, og i bogen præsenteres i alt 22 metoder, der i større eller mindre grad er en naturlig del af en Nest klasse. Igennem metoderne tydeliggøres det, hvordan pædagogikken i Nest kan se ud i praksis på baggrund af det fundament, de værdier og den viden, som programmet bygger på. Metoderne er bud på, hvad der kan bidrage til at understøtte et læringsrum, hvor alle oplever sig som hørende til. Nest pædagogikken handler om at have et særligt fokus på etableringen af et stabilt, roligt og fordybende fagligt og socialt fællesskab. Det gælder både for eleverne og de professionelle, som må lære og aflære en række pædagogiske rutiner og tilegne sig nye samarbejdsformer. Bogen introducerer de enkelte metoder, giver en uddybende argumentation for formålet med den enkelte metode og kommer med konkrete eksempler på, hvordan metoden kan se ud i en Nest klasse. Metoderne formidles til inspiration for andre, der ønsker at arbejde mod en mere inkluderende pædagogik - både i og uden for Nest. Nest programmet (ASD Nest Support Project) er oversat fra en amerikansk kontekst og udviklet på New York University, NYU Steinhardt School for Culture, Education, and Human Development og er en del af Steinhardt’s Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. PPR i Aarhus Kommune har med støtte fra Egmont Fonden hentet programmet fra USA, oversat det til en dansk kontekst og sammen med modelskolen Katrinebjergskolen implementeret Nest klasser i Aarhus Kommune.
