Flight: Spirit All Solid Concert Ukulele : Includes Deluxe Gig Bag

Flight: Spirit All Solid Concert Ukulele : Includes Deluxe Gig Bag

A wild Spirit that belongs in the wilderness and can't be tamed. Mustang's younger brother, Spirit, is a concert-sized, all solid acacia ukulele in its natural color. Unique features include an intricately designed top sound hole, scalloped cutaway, offset dots on blackwood fingerboard and captivating headstock shape. This ukulele is shaped and neatly packed to harness percussive punch, volume and tone inside this beautiful acacia concert. Spirit is an instrument that will let you fly free without limits. Acacia is a wood that has a long heritage in ukulele building for its punch, volume and tone. For the Royal series Flight chose only the highest-grade acacia which sounds as stunning as it looks. Beautiful natural finish brings out the best of the acacia grain. Tech Ebony is a composite wood used by many high end luthiers. Flight is a great believer in using the right material for the job and has no hesitation in using composites where it will bring the highest quality to the instrument as well as contribute to global sustainability. The high-end Tech Ebony is a stunning alternative to rosewood which the flagship Royal Series is well deserving and means you can travel the world without the stress of CITES certification. String-through bridge is one of the latest ukulele trends. It makes the top resonate better, due to strings being attached directly through the top soundboard, and not to the bridge. Changing the strings might seem a bit confusing at first, but actually it is easier. D'Addario strings have recently been rising in popularity and after lots of tests Flight decided to feature them on the Royal series. The scalloped cutaway was a real hit in the Victoria ukulele and it was a no brainer to repeat it in Mustang and Spirit. This intelligent design allows for playing up the frets but without the compromise on volume and tone that many full cutaways inflict. It also showcases the absolute craftsmanship and mastery of Flight's luthier. Why let everyone else hear how wonderful your ukulele sounds and not gain the benefit yourself? Flight realises that you can hear the full tone and volume of ukes by introducing a sound hole at the top of the instrument. Flight also feels it contributes to the quality of the sound as a whole. Some people aren't a fan of the appearance of a side sound hole which is why they have created an intricate design that gives you all the benefits of a normal sound hole whilst maintaining a solid appearance to the structure. Most of serious ukulele brands use passive piezo pickup, which is why for their higher-end models Flight decided to shift from using EQ system to passive piezo. It makes the ukulele lighter and more balanced, eliminates the unwanted string rattle and provides as a strap button. Flight wanted the new headstock to be bold and striking.

Flight: Voyager All Solid Concert Ukulele : Includes Deluxe Gig Bag

Flight: Voyager All Solid Concert Ukulele : Includes Deluxe Gig Bag

A Voyager is a restless traveller, always looking for new, uncharted experiences. Voyager is also a striking Concert-sized ukulele with a solid spruce top and solid acacia back and sides. It has a comfort edge for comfortable playing, a beautiful abalone rosette and a unique headstock shape. Its punchy sound will leave you speechless, with a voice that is as beautiful as its high gloss finish. Spruce doesn't have any of the wild and beautiful patterns of other exotic woods but it is an unassuming stalwart for some of the richest tones you can get on a solid wood instrument. Married with solid acacia for the back and sides, Flight has used a perfect combination of these woods that is favored by some of the world's best luthiers. Tech Ebony is a composite wood used by many high end luthiers. Flight are great believers in using the right material for the job and we have no hesitation in using composites where we feel it will bring the highest quality to the instrument as well as contribute to global sustainability. String-through bridge is one of the latest ukulele trends. It makes the top resonate better, due to strings being attached directly through the top soundboard, and not to the bridge. Changing the strings might seem a bit confusing at first, but actually it is easier and we are going to upload a tutorial on our Youtube channel really soon. D'Addario strings have recently been rising in popularity and after lots of tests Flight decided to feature them on the Royal series. Ebony armrest was designed to provide a smooth surface for your playing arm to rest on, making this ukulele as comfy as a Victorian couch, but looking as modern as a Flight ukulele should be. Most of serious ukulele brands use passive piezo pickup, which is why for the higher-end models Flight decided to shift from using EQ system to passive piezo. It makes the ukulele lighter and more balanced, eliminates the unwanted string rattle and provides as a strap button. Flight wanted the new headstock to be bold and striking, infusing innovation into all the benefits of a slotted headstock. Its round, airy shape not only looks amazing, it also makes the headstock lighter than most. You will certainly be turning heads with this one. While Fight's signature beige color has already become legendary, Flight wanted something different for this series, which is why they went for a Burgundy Red with a purple infusion. Associated with royalty, this regal color adds a final touch to the Royal Series. 20mm padding is thick and ensures good protection for your uke.

Flight Peter Moss Signature Concert Ukulele

If you haven’t yet heard Peter Moss play the ukulele, go and do that now! When you do, you will understand why we decided to collaborate with Peter and to create a one-of-a-kind ukulele! This ukulele reflects everything about Peter’s playing style – sophisticated, precise, warm and unique. Peter, who is a long-time player of our Flight Spirit Concert model, wanted to keep some of his favorite features of the Spirit like the scalloped cutaway, offset fret markers, active pickup and our famous Flight signature headstock.  He then wanted to combine these features with a classic wood combination that isn’t featured on any other Flight ukulele – spruce and mahogany! This combo combines the brightness and projection that you expect from spruce with the warmth and roundness of mahogany – offering the perfect balanced sound. To add to this timeless pairing, the moonburst stain gives this uke a really striking appearance. A spectacular dive via an extended chromatic scale immediately submerges us in a charged and somewhat archaic-feeling atmosphere. Trumpets, horns and trombones resound in rhythmic patterns, buttressed by restless motifs in the percussion. A second theme, in the woodwinds, begins much calmer but is quickly pushed aside by that same brass offensive. This introduction is the musical expression of the sometimes tumultuous early history of the town of Peer in Belgium. It closes with a D scale played over two octaves and repeated three times, symbolizing the church steeples that dominate the townscape. Peer has the credentials of a town, and people should know about it.There followsa rhythmic, turbulent passage: in the course of history, Peer has not been spared the ravages of war, arson, occupation, epidemic and other evils. In contrast, a slow, pastoral, lyrical part expresses the periods of peace and prosperity the town has known, as well as the serene geographic setting that still characterizes the place. Various instruments in groups are developed in solo style while the accompaniment displays vast, painterly images of sound. Now and then an exotic intonation is heard: a variety of peoples and cultures have left their mark on the town. This episode of tranquility and peacefulness comes to a sudden end when, via a surprising, almost chaotic transitional passage, we are in effect transported back to our own time. A hopeful, festive march expresses the confidence in the future that the Royal Concert Band of Peer exudes. This confidence is wholly justified: under the direction of conductor Willy Fransen, the 95 members of the concert band have experienced an extended period of good fortune, and the 75 musicians of the youth band - and the 45 little musicians of the mini-band - are involved in thriving operations.

Poul Ruders: The Thirteenth Child - A Fairytale Opera In Two Acts (Score)

Poul Ruders: The Thirteenth Child - A Fairytale Opera In Two Acts (Score)

The Thirteenth Child - A Fairytale Opera In Two Acts by Poul Ruders (2014-15). Libretto by Becky Starobin and David Starobin. Scenario by Becky Starobin. Suggested by 'The Twelve Brothers' by the Brothers Grimm. SYNOPSIS Act 1, Scene 1 The neighboring Kingdoms of Frohagord and Hauven are in crisis. Following a warning by his embittered cousin Drokan, Regent of Hauven, King Hjarne of Frohagord is convinced that his twelve sons are plotting to overthrow him. The twelve princes, oblivious to their father's paranoia, play in the courtyard. The enraged King threatens the safety of his sons, telling his pregnant wife, Queen Gertrude, that she must provide him with a female heir, as "only she shall wear the crown".  Gertrude calms Hjarne and they sing of the Lilies of Frohagord, magical flowers that protect the kingdom.  When Benjamin, the youngest prince, innocently plucks a lily from the garden, Hjarne flies into a mad rage and strikes Gertrude.  Drokan, observing the encounter, admits his love for Gertrude and feels "the trembling of the earth". Act 1, Scene 2 Eighteen years have passed and King Hjarne has just died. At Hjarne's funeral Frederic, Drokan, and the mourners tell of the mysterious disappearance of the King's thirteen children and the shadows that haunt the kingdom. Queen Gertrude, now mortally ill, and her daughter, Princess Lyra, enter the Royal Chapel. Gertrude is repelled by the sight of Drokan, while Frederic is drawn to Lyra. Drokan plots to usurp the Kingdom of Frohagord and Frederic dreams of the day when Lyra will be his. Act 1, Scene 3 Queen Gertrude is on her deathbed, attended by Princess Lyra.  Lyra asks her mother why she was sent away.  Gertrude has Lyra open a secret drawer where Lyra finds twelve shirts embroidered with the red Lilies of Frohagord. Gertrude reveals that the shirts belong to her missing brothers, who were sent to the forest, taking the lily bulbs with them.  Before dying, Gertrude begs Lyra to find her brothers and heal the family's wounds.  Lyra vows to find the twelve Princes.   Act 2, Scene 1 Lyra wanders through an enchanted forest, coming upon a cottage with twelve lilies in bloom. She encounters Benjamin, whom she learns is the youngest of her brothers. In the distance the older brothers are heard as they return home from a hunt.  Benjamin, who fears that his brothers will seek revenge against Lyra, hides her. After his brothers assure him that they will do no harm, Benjamin reveals Lyra, much to the joy of all. Preparing for a celebratory feast, Lyra cuts the red lilies, unintentionally casting a spell that transforms her brothers into ravens. She is devastated by her tragic mistake. Act 2, Scene 2 Queen Gertrude appears as an apparition and tells Lyra that in order for her brothers to return to human form, she must remain mute for seven years. Act 2, Scene 3 Almost seven years have passed, and Frederic's search for Lyra is rewarded. A great wedding celebration is planned by the people of Hauven. Drokan jealously plots to destroy the couple and gain the throne of

A classic gets a makeover Rosewood paired with solid mango We paired a solid mango top with laminate rosewood back and sides for a sound that is both deep, sweet and rich in the mid and lows and that provides clarity and projection on the high end. Historically a very popular hardwood for fretted instruments, rosewood can add warmth to the sound of an instrument while lessening harsh higher frequencies Rich and resonant tone Custom set of steel strings A unique offering in Flight’s catalog, the steel strings of the Maia create a different tonal experience with excellent projection and sustain.  The Maia is ideal for players seeking a brighter, more dynamic sound. Pitch perfect Bone compensated saddle and pin bridge The Maia features a real bone nut and a compensated saddle. Compensated saddles help to properly set the intonation of each string.  The pin bridge allows for quick and easy string changes. Turning heads Bold and striking headstock design The Maia features a gloss black headstock with the Flight logo, which matches the gloss black scallop and binding of the instrument.  The resulting look is both bold and classy. Tasteful Appointments Pearloid rosette and unique position markers The pearloid rosette offsets the natural colors of the mahogany top, offering a classic touch to the instrument.  The unique triangle fretboard markers make this baritone stand out from the pack. Side position markers are included for ease of reference for the player. Real temptation Stylish cutaway We adopted a gloss black scalloped cutaway for the Maia, a favorite feature of our Spirit, Mustang and Victoria models. This intelligent design allows for playing higher up the fretboard without the compromise on volume and tone which is caused by many full cutaways. The scalloped cutway also showcases the absolute craftsmanship and mastery of our luthiers. Small yet mighty Double C1U active pickup The controls for the active pickup are mounted underneath the sound hole, meaning that a cavity does not have to be created on the side of the ukulele for the pickup.  The Double C1U is easy to use, and sounds great! Ukuleles with the new active pickups include an “A” (for “Active”) as a part of their model number.  For tips on how to use the Double C1 pickup, visit the FAQ section on our website!
