God in a Single Vision - David Brown - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

In the ancient conversation between Western philosophy and Christian theology, powerful contemporary voices are arguing for monologue rather than dialogue. Instead of these two disciplines learning from and mutually informing each other, both philosophers and theologians are increasingly disconnected from, and thus unable to hear, what the other is saying, especially in Anglo-American scholarship. Some Christian philosophers are now found claiming methodological authority over doctrine, while some Christian theologians even deny that philosophy has its own integrity as a separate discipline. Against these trends, David Brown has argued over the past thirty years that philosophy and theology are both necessary in order to grapple with the reality of divine mystery and Christian faith. Neither discipline can be reduced to the other, and each has its own contribution to make for a full understanding of what Brown describes as ''a single vision'' of God. In this volume, Brown addresses some key topics in philosophical theology, including the created order, experience and revelation, incarnation and redemption, and heaven and our communal destiny. Combining analytic clarity, doctrinal substance, and historical depth, this volume exemplifies Brown''s project of truly integrating philosophy and theology. It thus provides an ideal introduction to this vital conversation for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as a connected argument of interest to specialists in both disciplines.

Revered interior designer David Kleinberg invites readers inside a selection of projects representing the height of sophistication, luxury, and refinement For over 35 years, David Kleinberg, whom Architectural Digest calls a designer of ‘singular rooms [that] adhere to the traditional values of elegance, beauty, practicality, [and] comfort,’ has created a body of work that is wide-ranging in style yet always modern in sensibility. Kleinberg is revered for creating spaces that not only epitomize sophistication and luxury, but that also function effortlessly for his clients. In his newest monograph, Kleinberg shares eleven recent residential projects, some of which have never been photographed until now, in glamorous locales across the United States – in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Aspen, and Palm Beach – as well as on London’s Eaton Square. The book opens with Thom Brown and Andrew Bolton’s townhouse, which was immaculately restored and filled with exquisite furnishings and art from varying periods and closes with an intimate tour of Kleinberg’s own private garden in East Hampton. Featuring a foreword by Thom Brown and Andrew Bolton, and written with Architectural Digest ’s West Coast editor, Mayer Rus, the text offers readers insights into the process of the celebrated interior designer. Wrapped in grey linen and featuring a tipped-in detail shot that shows Kleinberg’s signature mix of contemporary art with period details, the book’s luxe package reflects the elegant, upscale interiors within.
