The classic coat woolThe wool coat is a classic! And while you can design and sew a wool coat from many different types of wool, you'll get the classic look when you choose this wadding for your project. In short, it's a look that never goes out of fashion and is perfect for children, young people and adults alike. That said, you naturally calf's wool is usable for all sorts of other things. The material is long lasting and water-repellent, making it ideal for outerwear. For example, have you considered a short jacket - perhaps with a zip - or a roomy poncho that's easy to pull over your head and cosy to snuggle up in?  We also use the wool for shirts with pockets, where the heavy felted quality gives the shirt a pretty cool look.  Homespun - what is it?Homespun is a lightweight twill woven wool that has been processed with water, soap, heat and beating, then scratched up to give you a dense structure that is virtually windproof and waterproof. Originally, wadding was made from pure wool and used, for example, for work wear. Today, it is often a blended product to ensure the best possible quality. Practical InformationThis fabric is made up of 65% wool, 25% nylon and 10% polyester. It is 145 cm wide and you can choose the number of metres you need for your project. Please note that this wool is not washable. Remember to use the right needles - we recommend using universal needles when sewing with this wool. And a little tip: you can increase the stitch length to get a nice finished look.

It's soft, breathable, and comfortable – and the wonderful stretch gives you full flexibility for everyday tasks, big and small.  Cotton jersey with patterns is delightful. It makes the more traditional DIY designs – e.g., the classic short- or long-sleeved t-shirt – even more personal.  Let the pattern play a central role and discover how you create a unique wardrobe with several new favourites.   What will you sew? Jersey suits most things. For leggings and trousers, tops and t-shirts, or dresses and skirts. It's also a lovely material for a soft bodysuit for the little ones.  Explore our many different sewing patterns, or create your very own design.  Some practicalities This fabric consists of 92% organic cotton and 8% elastane; choose the length you need for your DIY project!  When working with jersey, we recommend using a jersey needle, which is characterised by having a medium point – also called ball point. Sew Your Own Rainwear When sewing your own rainwear, choosing the right material is essential to ensure your new rainwear keeps you dry. This fabric is a good choice, as you get a quality that is lightweight, practical, windproof and waterproof with a water column pressure of 5,000 mm.  Choose from several beautiful colours.  Rainwear That Fits Design rainwear that's not just functional, but also stylish and personal. When you sew your own rainwear, you have the opportunity to tailor it to your needs and preferences. Adjust the design to fit your exact figure and add pockets and other details to suit your needs.  To ensure your rainwear remains waterproof, it's important to seal the seams by making the correct stitches: Search for "seam tape for rainwear fabric" and find a free guide.  About Water Column Pressure Water column pressure indicates how large a column of water the material can withstand before water begins to penetrate. The higher the water column pressure, the more waterproof it is. A good rule of thumb is that +2,000 mm is good for light rain showers/short trips in the rain, while +5,000 is for a heavier rain shower or a couple of hours with light rain. If you're going to be out in heavy rain, we recommend +8,000 mm.  Some Practical Information This fabric consists of 65% polyester and 35% polyurethane. The width is 140 cm, while you naturally choose the length you need for your project.  We recommend using a universal needle size 70.  What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®? OEKO-TEX® is the world's leading health label for textiles.  When the fabric is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, it's your guarantee that it has been tested and approved and is free from any harmful chemicals.

YKK zip 4mm invisible closed 50cm navy

YKK zip 4mm invisible closed 50cm navy

The invisible zipper! When you want to hide the zipper!  In some designs, the zipper is essential because it can be seen - in others, it's primarily about functionality. The latter fits this zipper, which is a YKK spiral zipper with teeth and stopper in plastic, while the drop shutter itself is in metal. How to use the zipperFor example, sew the zipper in the middle, back or side of finer projects where you want to hide the zipper - for example in light dresses, skirts, blouses and trousers. The invisible zipper is also perfect for bedding and decorative pillows, where the zipper is purely functional but not part of the design.  What you need to know about invisible zippersWe recommend that you buy this zipper 5 cm longer than the opening in your project to achieve the best result when sewing. Sew as close to the teeth as possible and use a presser foot specially designed for this purpose (item no. 46101 if you are using a BERNINA sewing machine and item no. 46172 if you are using a BERNETTE sewing machine).  On the invisible zipper, the spiral is on the back of the invisible zipper. When you sew it in correctly, the spiral tips over on the back and pulls the fabric with it, so the zipper itself is completely hidden.  Note: This invisible zipper is to be used as an invisible zipper only, as it is not stable enough to be used for other sewing techniques where the seams come far away from the spiral itself.   We recommend that you close the zipper before washing. Find a guide on how to sew in an invisible zipper by searching for "Sewing invisible zipper".  Know your zipper There are many different zippers. Functionally, they can be divided into three categories: the non-divisible with closed end, which is used for example in trousers and dresses. The separable, used for example in jackets and cardigans, where you need your design to open completely and the zipper to split in two. And the split 2-way zipper, used for example in coats, where the fact that it can be opened from the bottom as well as from the top gives extra flexibility. This zipper is non-divisible. All our zippers are nickel-free.
