Metro Exodus is a first-person shooter game with a survival-based storyline and gore elements, set in a post-nuclear war world. Metro Exodus, like previous installments in the series, is inspired by the Metro novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. In terms of gameplay, it is a classic proposal from the FPS genre, but the storyline is quite unique. The game was developed by 4A Games studio, which is based in Malta, but has Ukrainian roots, and its publisher is Deep Silver.
The plot of the game
The story begins in 2036, just two years after the end of the action of the previous installment of the series. To catch up with the events that led us to the beginning of the gameplay in Metro Exodus, the player only needs to know that in 2013 the Earth was destroyed by a nuclear war.
In an alternate version of history, the Russian Federation is a vast wasteland full of those who survived and are trying to cope with a hostile reality and terrifying monsters of various bizarre shapes. The player continues the journey of the 23-year-old main character: Artyom. He escaped from the Moscow subway to roam the lands of former Russia. However, he is not alone - he is accompanied by the so-called Spartan Rangers. They all try to get to the far east. We meet Artyom in the Urals, near the Volga River. He jumps on the locomotive Aurora, which has the task of going to the east.
There he hopes to start a new and better life together with his wife Anna. The entire plot closes in one year, and the gameplay revolves around the four seasons. The beginning takes place in the Moscow metro, during the winter.
Monsters in Metro
The game's post-nuclear world is home to several types of strange creatures. All of them are terrifying and look like they are taken straight out of horror movies. During your journey through the former Russian territory, as Artyom, you can meet grotesque, fascinating mutants such as guardians, humanimals and shrimps.
There is also one demon. Guardians are hunters who come in packs. They are most dangerous in groups, a lone mutant is a piece of cake for a Spartan. Humanimal loves the night. He looks like a human, but he is definitely not one. He loves dark places and abandoned buildings. His behavior may resemble that of monkeys, they attack as soon as they see you. The shrimps look like, yes, you guessed it, normal shrimps. This form of water mutant likes to attack from a long distance. The demon is a huge beast, the most deadly in this world. It hunts alone and poses a great threat to Spartans. It is better to avoid him at all costs.

The gameplay in Metro Exodus is mainly based on shooting, exploration and stealth. The game is filled with a lot of horror and gore elements. The main task of the characters is to survive in a hostile, post-apocalyptic world full of monsters.
