Gameplay
The expansion does not introduce any changes to the main gameplay. The player takes on the role of a professional truck driver, delivering various loads to different facilities spread across Europe. Immersion and realistic mechanics, including traffic, regulations, etc., have always been the selling point of this franchise, and the Italian DLC doesn't change that. It does, however, introduce new cities, towns, and even entire regions to the game.
While Italy was present in the base version of the game, it was a rather small part of it. The expansion allows players to visit many famous Italian cities, such as Palermo or the legendary Rome. Italy as a whole offers many unique and stunning sights, making any route through the region incredibly enjoyable. Due to the geography of Italy, players will have the opportunity to travel through a country with a higher than usual density of cities. In addition, the DLC features a number of new, well-known landmarks specific to this sunny country, such as the Carrara marble quarries and the Taranto Steel Plant, the largest in all of Europe.
Reception
Most players received the ETS 2 Italia expansion extremely warmly. The game received very positive reviews among the community. Many players praised the well-developed regions of Italy and applauded the faithful rendering of the unique atmosphere of certain cities. A large part of the ETS2 community claims that it is a solid addition to the basic version of the game.
