6 O'Clock Five Year Aged Sloe Gin "Good things come to those who wait....." It may have been a long wait (five years), but we've managed to get some of this delicious aged Sloe gin The majority of (commercial) sloe gins are steed for a few months to extract the flavours from the sloes, and whilst this does create a deliciously fruity sloe gin, theres still a lot more to give. 6 O'Clock took their (already award winning) London Dry gin and allowed it to steep their sloes for a full five years. Once completed, they bottled the liquid creating a very limited run of only 1,000 bottles. The result of this is really something quite special, and very unexpected should you have tried a traditional sloe gin. It has a darker, richer colour than traditionally seen in sloe gins, and the flavour profile differs too, as explained by their Master Distiller Edward Kain: “The longer you leave it, the more colour and flavour is extracted from the sloes. I knew if the gin was left on the sloes for a very long time it would eventually start to oxidise. During this oxidisation process the Sloe Gin would darken and lose all its tartness, becoming ‘lush’ like a vintage tawny port – rich, mellow and full of flavour” On the nose there are definitely notes that show this is a sloe gin with the aromas of marzipan and the plumlike smell of the sloes. But there is also a port like aroma which greets you, and invites you into taking a sip. The taste is delicious, and it has a pleasant mouthfeel, delicately coating the tongue, but not leaving an unpleasant feel in doing so. With a tangy fruitiness around the edges, there are almond and deep and delicious sloe flavours (reminiscent of baked plums). A touch of molasses sweetness too, but definitely not the prevaling flavour.  The finish is long, delicious, and definitely invites you back for a second sip! It also makes an ideal partner to fine mature cheddar and creamy blue cheeses. If you'd like a longer drink, try mixing with Prosecco (about 1:3 sloe to prosecco) for something a little celebratory, or a bitter lemon mixer should you wish to bring in a citrus twist (around 50ml of the sloe gin to 100ml of the bitter lemon).

6 O'Clock Spiced Orange & Cranberry Gin 6 O’Clock Gin is a range of strikingly-smooth artisan gins, handcrafted in small batches, using traditional skills and only the best natural ingredients. It is a craft gin brand owned and operated by the family-run, artisan spirit company, Bramley & Gage, based in Thornbury on the outskirts of Bristol in the UK.  The 6 O’clock name was inspired by the long-held family tradition of indulging in the first G&T of the evening at 6 O’Clock; a very British custom with colonial roots, still enjoyed at the distillery and shared by gin-lovers all over the world. Whilst their Spiced Orange & Cranberry gin is perfect at Christmas, you can also embrace the festive spirit all year by enjoying it! It's created by using fresh orange peels, and tart cranberries. These are then allowed to steep in their classic botanical recipe. Joining the classic juniper nose are zesty citrus and warming spice aromas. On the palate the tart cranberries come through early, quickly joined by a sweetness from orange. These give a perfectly balanced fruitiness, which is followed by the festive spices of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. These build a complexity, with the juniper as a backbone to the flavours.  It leaves a pleasantly lingering warm finish, with a citrusy zestiness. Gently pour over 150ml of your chosen tonic. We like this with East Imperial Tonic Water, as the touch of cinnamon in the tonic works well with the gin. Stir gently and garnish with a twist of orange.  If you're looking for an alternative to mulled wine, gently warm some apple juice with a cinnamon stick in it. 6 O'Clock Mango, Ginger & Lime Gin A limited edition, made in conjunction with a celebrity chef (Romy Gill MBE) Romy’s Edition is a deliciously moreish gin packed with flavour. They have crafted a gin that portrays the unique flavours of India, using the herbs and spices which are commonly found in Indian cooking. Further to this, they have taken juice from the native Indian mango  and infused the gin with the juice. The recipe is inspired by the memoirs of Romy and strikes the perfect balance between rich fruity sweetness and reserved spice. The taste of this is really something quite different, and very special. 6 O'clock Sloe Gin Made in small batches using only hand-picked, wild, hedgerow sloes makes this gin something really special to enjoy. The intense fruit flavour of this traditional classic is achieved by using a high sloe to gin ratio, just the right amount of sugar, and then patiently and slowly maturing it for at least 6 months. Rich, sweet fruit aromas of plum merge perfectly with flavours of Kirsch cherry and a hint of subtle spice. Warm and refreshing, 6 O'clock Sloe Gin is less intensely sweet than many other sloe gins, with a perfect balance between sweet fruit and the bitterness of sloes. If you want something more warming, try mixing 50ml of the sloe gin with 150ml of Double Dutch Ginger ale. This gives a gentle ginger warmth to the drink, making it perfect for cold winter days, or cool summer evenings. Garnish with a slice of orange. Or perhaps our favourite is mixed with Double Dutch Indian Tonic. 50ml of the gin to 200ml of the tonic gives a really sweet and refreshing drink. However, there is still a degree of warmth from the fruity sweetness - so this can also be enjoyed in front of a roaring fire!
