Gin Mare Capri 1L

Gin Mare Capri 1L

Gin Mare Capri A place which conjures images of elegance, style and the Italian lifestyle.... the island of Capri, in the gulf of Naples. It is from here that Gin Mare have taken inspiration for their new Gin, ten years after creating their iconic Mediterranean gin. In a beautiful blue glass bottle, inspiration has been taken from the famous Blue Caves of Capri, and the quality feel continues with a canvas printed label. A collar label, in the shape of the Island rounds this off hung delicately from the neck of the bottle. Two new ingredients make themselves known in this edition; In keeping with their other botanicals (all from the mediterranean region) these are Lemons from Capri and bergamot. These are added to the distinctive, mediterranean botanicals found in Gin Mare, being Arbequina Olives from Spain, Basil from Italy, Rosemary from Greece, and Thyme from Turkey. They keep the same artisinal approach in making this gin as they do in the original Gin Mare. The citrus fruits are all peeled by hand, before being macerated for 12 months in small containers. This ensures a real depth of flavour. The flavours and aromas of this edition are reminiscent of its older brother, but with the added enrichment of deeper herbal and citrus profiles (both in taste, and aroma) from the lemons and bergamot. Read more about Gin Mare Perfect Serve Like its older brother, the flavours in this gin stand for themselves, and work particulary well with Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water (it doesn't overpower the gin, and allows the additional botanicals to come through). Use 50ml of gin with 150 / 200ml (depending how strong you like it), combine over ice in a large copa-glass and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of lemon.

They use traditional techniques which capture the pure essence of the Mediterranean region through delicate maceration and skilfull distillation. Every bottle of Gin Mare is unique. Using their star ingredient (the arbequina olive) the acidity levels fluctuate each year. Made at the Gin Mare distillery, a thirteenth century chapel located in an ancient fishing village between the Costa Brava and the Costa Dorada, skilfull distillation turns this gin into a culinary work of art. Created using Spanish olives as the star ingredient, Gin Mare goes much further. They also utilise a variety of other botanicals from the Mediterranean region. Rosemary from Greece, Thyme from Turkey, Basil from Italy, Oranges from Valencia and Seville (Spain), Lemons form Seville, as well as juniper, coriander and green cardamom. The aromatic profile of Gin Mare is remarkably different to other Gins, but it doesnt lose its roots. It has a herbal, almost floral notes on the nose with a hint of berry fruits. The olives give a savoury note, with almost a tomato like quality. The taste is very herbal, and aromatic with soft coriander, a slight tartness from coriander and finishing with refreshing citrus. Truly the Mediterranean region bottled..... Cheers!
