Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Peated 70cl

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Peated 70cl

Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Peated "From Wales to the world..." - Penderyn Distillery The Penderyn distillery is located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (a National Park in Wales, UK). It was launched on St David's Day in 2004 (the patron saint of Wales), in the presence of King Charles III (then HRH Prince Charles, who was the Prince of Wales).  The location was chosen due to a fresh natural spring located in the Village. They also use a unique copper single-pot still, which was designed by Dr David Faraday (a relative of the famous 19th Century Scientist). This was installed in 2000 and produces a spirit at 92%, which is an industry high. Penderyn state this is one of the reasons that their whiskies are light, fruity and full of flavour. As if this wasn't enough to ensure a world-class product, they hired Dr Jum Swan, a Scottish Whisky expert as their Master Distiller. Things have gone from strength to strength since their launch, and they have won over 100 Double Gold / Gold / Masters awards, and is available in over 50 countries the world over, including the key markets for whisky of France, Germany, the USA and China.  For their Gold range, in which their Peated edition sits, Penderyn have taken inspiration from Welsh Gold. Extremely rare, pure and precious it was worn by the legendary Welsh princes of old. Their peated edition (as the name would suggest) has a medium peaty character. Interestingly, this is also certified as Kosher. The nose has a sweet aromatic smokiness, with vanilla, green apple and refreshing citrus. The flavours are complex, yet gentle with a light smoke and citrus fruitiness. It finishes with smoke and vanilla. More from Penderyn Perfect Serve We particularly liked this at room temperature served neat, but as with all good whiskies, enjoy as you want to!

Extremely rare, pure and precious it was worn by the legendary Welsh princes of old. The Madeira finish is the original Penderyn 'house-style', and is aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in ex-Madeira wine casks. This ensures a full gold character.  On the nose there is a classic freshness which is enhanced with aromas of creamy toffee and rich fruit and raisins. On the palate its crisp and well rounded, with an oaky banilla and has a sweetness which balances a refined dryness. The finish brings notes of tropical fruit, more raisins and vanilla.  More from Penderyn Perfect Serve We particularly liked this at room temperature with a splash of water, but as with all good whiskies, enjoy as you want to!

Penderyn Celt Single Malt Welsh Whisky "From Wales to the world..." - Penderyn Distillery The Penderyn distillery is located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (a National Park in Wales, UK). The dragon features in many Welsh tales, and was the historic banner for the legendary Welsh Princes. It is from this that Penderyn have taken inspiration for their Dragon series of whiskies, which the Celt falls into.  Celt is a single malt, which is finished in special ex-peated quarter casks before bottling. With mild aromas of peat smoke, this whisky draws you in. Along with this are hints of salty air, as well as toast and hints of marmalade. The palate brings sweetness, before the smokiness comes through. This develops slowly in the mouth before a slight bitterness draws you to the finish, which leaves a long and lingering freshness to the mouth.
