Sanctum is a hybrid of FPS and RTS tower defense. It is the debut work of the independent Swedish band Coffee Stain Studios. The project began as a modification, and only after receiving a large number of positive opinions, the authors made a decision to expand it to the level of commercial production. Gameplay The game has virtually no storyline. We simply play the role of Skye - a woman whose task is to repel alien attacks on the city of Elysium One. Sanctum was built on the foundations of a typical tower defense. Each map has an energy nucleus, and from time to time there are waves of aliens trying to destroy them. The fun is to prevent them from doing so. For this purpose, we build defensive structures such as cannons or lasers. Each of them can be upgraded for points earned for killed enemies. For success, it is necessary to plan the structure in such a way as to extend the path of aliens as much as possible and thus give our turrets more time to deal with intruders. What distinguishes Sanctum from typical tower defense is that the game is played from a first-person perspective. Our character moves like in FPS games and helps in the extermination of aliens by using three weapons - a submachine gun, a sniper rifle and a slow laser. All of these toys can also be upgraded. Enemies never attack us directly, and when we fall off the board, we immediately respawn at a different point. Teleportation devices help us to quickly move around the battlefield. The game is made more attractive by a large variety of enemies. Many of them require special tactics. For example, some of them have indestructible armor on the front, so you have to attack their backs.
