Not a Hero is a fast-paced, old-school 2D shooter for PC, PS4, etc., in which we play the role of a gunslinger in the service of the local mayor. The production was prepared by the independent London studio Roll7, known for the similarly styled graphic skateboard game OlliOlli .
Story
The action of the game takes us to an undefined city, where one of the candidates for mayor is the anthropomorphic BunnyLord rabbit, who came from the future. One of the elements of his unusual campaign is to rid the city of criminals and thugs who could threaten the election results. A certain Steve, known for his shooting skills and exceptional lack of self-preservation instinct, offers his services to the mysterious stranger . His task is to create a team of similar tough guys and clean five city districts of the rampant crime there.
Gameplay
Not a Hero consists of a series of dynamic missions, during which we play the role of various members of Steve's team, performing subsequent tasks set by BunnyLord. They are short and usually boil down to clearing the building of enemies and reaching the exit, although we will also meet with slightly more "ambitious" goals, such as hacking the terminal or planting explosives. The character we control can hide behind the elements of the environment to attack the surprised enemies at the right moment. Interestingly, they react to the sound of reloading weapons, deciding to attack at such a moment. Therefore, among others among the available arsenal of weapons that determine the style of the game, we can also find a silent and effective katana and other more sophisticated tools of extermination, such as a bomb attached to a kitten's back. Our achievements in each of the subsequent missions are scored, and one of the factors increasing the point multiplier is the effective series of kills. An interesting fact is that in the special edition of the game, entitled Not a Hero: Super Snazzy Edition, it is also possible to play the BunnyLord as part of the Me, Myself & BunnyLord campaign that was not available before . This version offers a new adventure with three new missions, new villains, and more challenging challenges.
