It is also the first production under this banner that was released not only on personal computers but also on consoles. Contrary to previous works of the studio, Age of Wonders: Planetfall does not take us on a journey to fantasy land but to a science fiction universe. Players take control of a galactic empire, and their task is to end its stagnation and lead it to a better future. In the course of the game, we get to know not only other factions that develop in their own way but also the history of the world, including the fate of the fallen civilization of Star Union. Despite a different "setting", in terms of gameplay mechanics, Age of Wonders: Planetfall draws heavily on solutions developed by previous games in the series. During the game, we spend most of our time on the world map, dealing with the expansion of the main city and the establishment of specialized colonies, discovering new technologies that increase our combat potential, establishing more or less friendly diplomatic relations with (often conflicting) groups and introducing new doctrines. An important role is also played by turn-based clashes with enemy forces, during which the units we control are moved to a separate board; It is worth noting that thanks to the destructible environment and the extensive possibilities of modifying the arsenal used by our soldiers, the creators managed to expand the range of tactical options. All this means that victory can be achieved here both by conquest and diplomacy, as well as by extermination (after developing appropriate technologies). Revelations is the title of the first major add-on to Age of Wonders: Planetfall, a turn-based strategy spin-off of the popular Age of Wonders series. The add-on was developed by the authors of the original, i.e. the Triumph Studios team. Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Revelations focuses on the Es'Teq dynasty resurrected after the collapse of the Star Union, and more precisely - on the Heritor people, who originated from it, trying to take control of the entire galaxy. Our task is to stop his victorious march or join him and take part in the birth of the theocratic empire. The pillars of Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Revelations are two new campaigns in which we visit over thirty previously unavailable locations. In addition, a scenario for seasoned players, called The Cemetery Universe, is waiting to be tested, where you can play both alone and in the company of other people, thanks to a specially prepared quest path. While playing, we have the opportunity to take control of the technology of the Heritor people, which, by sucking the essence of enemies, gives us access to powerful combat abilities, and also allows us to summon additional units and create entropy weapons. In addition, the add-on introduces new opponents, i.e. reapers (machines trying to annihilate every organic creature they meet), megalochs (mutated animals devouring everything that stands in their way) and the Forgotten (a faction of outcasts that do not fit the utopian vision of Heritor society). The list of novelties is closed by previously inaccessible places and mechanisms, such as the Es'Teq well and the Essence geyser, providing our army with new effects and skills, holopad increasing our ability to influence enemies and allies, as well as imperial ramparts that give us an advantage over our opponents (such as Fire Missile Launcher, Cluster Mine Launcher and Soul Lantern). Along with this expansion, the basic version of the game received a free update, which brought the possibility of capturing new imperial ramparts, as well as introducing orbital transmitters allowing for instant transport of units between sectors.
