This Anglo Aquatics Iris Louisiana 'Black Gamecock' is a Marginal plant that comes with deep purple flowers and is ideal for placing in shallow edges or on shallow planting shelves. Marginal plants are perfect for the borders of your pond where the water is most shallow, or perhaps on a planting shelf. They are able to tolerate waterlogged soil but should be planted no deeper than four inches below the water level. These hardy aquatic plants can be grown outside of the water also, as long as their soil is kept consistently moist. Benefits: Stunning, giant, deep purple, near-black blooms adorn this beautiful Iris. As with all Louisiana iris it is ideal for the pond as it loves plenty of moisture. As with all iris the tubers are harmful if eaten. If trimming left until spring take care not to damage emerging shoots. Repotting or Replanting: 9cm marginal plants require potting into a larger mesh basket. Place in a pond no deeper than 1/3 maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to establish. 1 litre marginal plants do not require repotting, place in pond no deeper than 1/2 maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to establish, plants over 60cm height growth will benefit from repotting into a larger mesh basket or should be planted in gravel to prevent them from falling over. 3 litre and 5 litre plants do not require repotting, as they are larger more established plants they can be placed up to the maximum recommended depth.
