Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Aiko's Choice is a tactical strategy game developed by Mimimi Games studio. The title is a standalone expansion to the well-received Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. Unlike its predecessor, Aiko's Choice was released only for PCs.The action of the game takes place in 17th-century Japan during the early Edo era. The story is a continuation of the events shown in Shadow Tactics. The main character is known from the previous game kunoichi Aiko. After saving Japan from the mysterious Kage-sama, she unexpectedly comes face to face with her past. Together with her friends, Aiko embarks on a battle against a new enemy with a strong connection to her former life.Aiko's Choice does not significantly change the formula known from the original. We're still dealing with a real-time stealth strategy here. We have several heroes at our disposal, each with unique skills. For example, the title Aiko is a master of camouflage, she can dress up as a geisha and talk to enemies for subversive purposes. Despite their competence, the heroes have no chance in open combat with a larger group of opponents. Moreover, the death of any of the playable characters means the end of the game. The basis of the game is, therefore, to pass the levels quietly, eliminate enemies from hiding or avoid them.The game is difficult but fair, it allows you to save the game unlimitedly at almost any time and never skimp on the player's information. The encountered guards have vision cones that show their range of sight. Killed or stunned adversaries can be moved to hide their bodies. At any time, we can also place a marker on the map and see which enemies are able to see it. There are many interactive objects on the maps with which we can eliminate guards by simulating accidents. If the enemy notices us or the body we have abandoned, it will raise an alarm. During an alarm, the guards carefully comb the area and receive the support of additional patrols.One of the most important elements of the game is the shadow mode, thanks to which we can synchronize the actions of our heroes. By running it, we can give commands to several units at once. After exiting shadow mode, they will execute their orders at the same time.

Story The main character of the game is the title Edna, a peculiar young woman who wakes up one morning locked in a mental hospital, remembering practically nothing. However, she is fully convinced that she is here completely wrong and must get out of here as soon as possible. After all, the girl considers herself a completely normal person, although the player may have some doubts about it, considering her shabby, stuffed rabbit mascot Harvey, with whom she quite often discusses various topics. Together, they also decide to escape from this problematic place. As it turns out quickly, getting out of the madhouse is not such a simple matter, which is why our original pair of heroes is forced to ask for intellectual help from the player in this endeavor. Considering the nature of the location where Edna and Harvey are currently staying, it is easy to conclude that the characters encountered on our way are, to put it mildly, unusual personalities (e.g. a man dressed in a bee costume or a pair of Siamese twins). Nevertheless, we should find a common language with the inhabitants of the psychiatrist, because only by joint efforts we have a chance to achieve the desired goal. Fortunately, the passage of time and contacts with other people enable Edna to slowly regain her memory, which has a very positive effect on her mental abilities. As we can see, it is difficult to accuse the game's creators of lack of creativity or re-creativity when it comes to the plot. Despite such a plot, Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes is a classic point'n'click adventure game. We spend most of the fun on carefully searching locations, collecting items, conducting conversations and solving puzzles. The game offers two-dimensional graphics in the crazy and often caricatured style known from the first game. The visual setting does not impress with the level of detail, but on the other hand, it fits the story perfectly and highlights its highly twisted nature.
