Darwinia is a one-of-a-kind strategy game (RTS), prepared by the Introversion Software team. The main characters of the program are Darwinians, two-dimensional sprites from video games that must protect themselves from attacks by various viruses and worms.Although the game is made with a three-dimensional engine, all objects (both Darwinians and evil viruses) were created using regular bitmaps. This gives a unique and certainly rarely seen today breath of classic computer games, in which two-dimensional sprites were the order of the day. The plot of the game focuses on Dr. Sepulved, who in the 1980s began a thriving activity on the video game market. The need to introduce new technologies (especially one called Protologic 68000), which did not receive a proper response from the industry, soon led his concern to ruin. After Sepulveda went underground, he started further work on the Protologic project, which in a short time allowed him to create a virtual world called Darwinia. It is a place inhabited by the code of old video games, which, however, was quickly taken over by viruses and thus got out of control.The player takes command of special strike groups, a digital guerrilla whose task is to subdue the world of Darwin and free it from the rule of ubiquitous viruses. It all comes down to the classic RTS, in which, by completing subsequent missions, we have to destroy the enemy before he can do us any harm. The interface, reminiscent of an archaic product called Cannon Fodder, allows you to easily control a large number of units. There are many other references to classic hits straight from the 1980s in the game. How about an air raid using units characteristic of the famous Space Invaders? It's just everyday life in Darwinia.
