Miasmata is a first-person adventure game with elements of horror and exploration of the open world. The production was prepared by an independent developer IonFX and uses the proprietary MILO engine. The studio is known, among others, for the Obulis puzzle game.In the game we play the role of Robert Hughes, a scientist who sets off on a journey to find a cure for a mysterious plague that hit him. Searching for help, Hughes ends up on the island of Eden, once inhabited by a primitive tribe, of which only large statues remain. Currently, the island is the seat of a research facility. Unfortunately, it turns out that something has gone wrong with her. Hughes must unravel the mystery of this place.The game takes place on a large, open island, so exploring is the most important part of it. The game's protagonist can even create a map of the area by juxtaposing characteristic points with each other (the cartographic system is responsible for this). The main activity is collecting local mushrooms and plants and then discovering their properties in a laboratory. The search for a cure for the plague is hindered by dangerous predators, which can track and sneak up on the victims.The creators of Miasmat set themselves a difficult goal to achieve (taking into account their modest budget) - to create a large world inhabited by fantastic creatures in which the player will fight for survival. For this purpose, the developer has developed a proprietary MILO engine that uses modern solutions. We are talking about advanced lighting, clouds based on voxels, or even extensive artificial intelligence.
