Salvia Roman Red is an upright hardy semi-woody perennial that supplies an abundance of ruby red blooms. The deciduous evergreen display of foliage are mid-dark green leaves which are occasionally used as a herb to flavour meat or vegetables or other culinary meals, drinks and baking.
This soldier of the garden carries out its work seriously; flowering with its upright ruby red blooms continuously from July to October. As a result, this striking Salvia holds an RHS Plants for Pollinators registration due to the declining wildlife that is attracted to its nectar rich blooms.
The impactful hardy perennial is a delight in a wide selection of gardens. Its versatile aesthetic will suit; Coastal or Cottage Gardens, Informal Gardens, Mediterranean Gardens, Patios or containers or low maintenance spaces. The compact height makes it ideal for under planting in your flower beds, beneath larger shrubs and roses but also can be used as a hedge.
Mirage Roman Red is hardy, and once established, is drought-tolerant making it very low maintenance.
