Because you get even more flexibility in the waistband when you use buttonhole elastic. You simply sew in a button and then adjust the width at the waist by placing the button in the buttonhole that suits you. Elastic band for flexible useIt's great for those days when you're feeling bloated. It's great if you have a design that fits both your waist and your hips, so you can change your look from time to time. And it's great when you lend your clothes to friends and you might not be wearing the same size. In general, it just gives you a lot of flexibility! The elastic is relatively firm made of polyester and rubber. It is 19 mm wide and has an 8 mm buttonhole every 15 mm. Maybe you want to add buttonhole elastic to your next project? The elastic can be washed at 40° and tumble dried at low heat.

But it's just so soft that we have to say that it's also great for a wool blanket on the sofa. It is 145 cm wide and you can choose the number of meters you need for your project. The most flexible satinDresses, jackets, shirts, tops and skirts - you can sew pretty much anything you want with this stretch satin fabric.   It's the classic satin weave with elastane added, so you get a more matte surface and a more flexible material with greater freedom of movement than the classic satin weaves. Choose from a wide range of beautiful colours and get crafty for your next festive occasion. A little more about this satinThe fabric is made of polyester/elastane, measures 135 cm in width and can be washed at 40° - remember to let it air dry hanging and iron only at low heat. It shrinks approx. 1% in the wash. TIP: Sharp scissors are a must when working with satin. The fabric can be difficult to cut because it's slippery and also offers a lot of resistance. Use a good quality pair of fabric scissors or, if you want to make it even easier, a sharp roller knife/roller cutter. Search "9 tips for sewing satin" for more tips. What is satin? Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven, where one side of the material is smooth and shiny. For this satin you will need stretch needles.

It provides a beautiful finish.     How to sew on bias tape  Bias tape is for sewing onto curves, corners, and straight stretches. When you sew the bias tape onto your project, sew with straight stitches at approximately 2.5 cm stitch length. As you sew, do not pull or stretch it. Let it align naturally along the edge to achieve a neat finish.     TIP  When you start sewing your bias tape, fold about 2 cm inwards, so it's double-layered. When you finish, tuck the other end's fold over your initial folded start. The same principle applies when you extend a bias tape.

You can almost sense the robust, superior quality from the pictures. This makes the jersey highly suitable for garments where you desire an attractive drape. Simple, Elegant, or…? We recommend jersey for a plethora of different designs. From trousers and skirts to tops and dresses – and this jersey is no exception. You can use it for all the classic designs, where its substantial quality stands out and gives your design the right touch with an elegant fall. How about sewing a tailored dress or a wrap dress with a tie? What is Courtelle? Courtelle was developed by the company Courtaulds PLC in England in the mid-20th century. It's a composite fabric which is smooth, dense, soft, warm, and difficult to wrinkle. It's also known under the name “Ponte de Roma”. Some Practicalities This fabric consists of 70% viscose, 27% polyester, and 3% elastane. You choose the length you need for your sewing project – the width is 145 cm. Please note that the fabric shrinks 13% when washed. When working with jersey, we recommend using a jersey needle, characterized by its medium point – also known as ball point. The needle easily penetrates the knitted quality and prevents stitches and threads from running. For this type of jersey, we recommend jersey needles in size 80.
