Cotton satin - the best of both worldsHow about trying our soft cotton fabric in a range of beautiful colours for your next creative project. It's soft and comfortable to work with.Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven. This means that when we say cotton satin, it has the same beautiful weave as more 'classic' satin, while the cotton quality gives a more matt finish to the fabric.  And what can you use cotton satin for? Well, that’s entirely up to you. We prefer using it for bed linen. The natural material of the cotton in the delicate satin weave makes for some really lovely home made bed linen. As with so many other cottons, it is also suitable for clothing. Cotton is comfortable to wear and the fine weave gives it a nice finish - for a summer shirt or skirt, for example. Cotton satin is also perfect for a tablecloth for the table. Sew the tablecloth yourself or select "Sew as a tablecloth" and we will sew it for you (click on the text for details). Practical information about cotton satinMade from 100% cotton, it's soft and fluffy and, as always, you buy the fabric by the metre, so you get exactly the length you need. The fabric is 145 cm wide, has a weight of 130 grams and shrinks about 8% in the wash. You can wash it at 60° and iron at medium heat - but avoid the tumble dryer; let it air dry instead. TIP: Finish your seams properly - satin tends to fray a lot. You could also consider using a wider seam allowance to secure your seams or use overlock stitching. As always - test your seams on a scrap piece beforehand to see which technique works best for your piece of fabric. Light, colourful and a beautiful drape! Viscose is a popular fabric for many fashion designs. It's a light and soft material with good breathability, while also being comfortable to wear.  The beautiful drape is especially pronounced in tops, dresses, and shirts, where even with the simplest designs, you achieve a stylish look. The design is up to you: Does the shirt need a small collar? The top a boat neck? Or are you into ruched details?  That being said, viscose is also well-suited for light trousers. We prefer them with a bit of width in the legs, so you once again benefit from the lovely drape.  Choose from many stunning colours.  What is viscose? Viscose has been used for clothing for over 100 years. The fabric consists of processed and regenerated cellulose, for example from wood pulp or cotton waste. It resembles natural fibres like cotton and silk.  Some practicalities The fabric is 100% viscose, is 130 cm wide, and you can of course choose the length you need. Wash at 40°C, iron at medium heat, and allow to air dry. Expect 5% shrinkage after washing.  Remember to use the right needles – we recommend using a universal needle or a microtex needle in size 70.

When working with jersey, we recommend that you use a jersey needle, characterised by having a medium point – also known as ball point. The needle easily penetrates the knitted quality and prevents stitches and threads from running. For this type of jersey, we recommend jersey needles in size 70/80. Partly organic Products with this label have an organic content of at least 25%. This might be fabrics with organic cotton mixed with other fibres. We created this label so you can easily identify the proportion of organic content.

Micro Satin - the satin with the soft drapeThere are many different grades of satin. This 100% polyester micro satin stands out for its beautiful, extra soft and natural drape, perfect for those who sew satin tops and dresses and want to utilise the soft drape in their designs. The satin has the familiar glossy front and matt back and is available in many colour nuances. Satin for your next creative ideaMicro Satin is suitable for both clothes and bags. Maybe you want to sew a simple and elegant party dress or create beautiful draping with a cool matching clutch? The only limit is your imagination. The fabric is 145 cm wide and shrinks about 3% in the wash. It can be washed at 40°, always hang dry and iron at low heat. TIP: Satin weaves are not very forgiving when it comes to needle marks. A good way to avoid damage is to start with a fresh needle, as a damaged needle is more likely to stick to the fabric and leave marks. Also, use extra fine pins in the seam allowance to minimise holes. For this satin you will need microtex needles.

It sounds almost too good to be true, but with coral fleece you get the softness you know from fleece, along with a polka dot texture. Give your DIY projects a nice finish with this fleece. Luxury fleece for clothing and cosinessThe fabric is created with cosiness in mind. Perfect for a relaxing homesuit or loungewear. The fabric also works perfectly for a plaid - and as with our other fleeces, you don't need to sew the edges if you want an "easy" blanket; the fabric doesn't run. Fleece is soft, lightweight and elastic with a high degree of thermal insulation. Please remember to use jersey needles (item no. 46799 or 46028) when sewing in fleece. Practical information about micro fleeceThe fabric is 140 cm wide and you buy it by the metre, so you get the length you need.
