Nittan EVC-P Photoelectrical Optical Smoke Detector with 375 Ohm ResistorUsing a simple but effective technique the EVC-P Optical Detector incorporates a chamber housing an Infra-Red IR LED light and a photodiode light detector set at an obtuse angle preventing it from seeing the light. When smoke enters the chamber the light bounces off the smoke particles and strikes the photodiode causing it to generate an alarm condition when a set threshold value is met.The EVC-P Optical Detector is therefore more sensitive to larger smoke particles which tend to be caused by smouldering fires rather than fast flaming fires.OperationThe smoke chamber of the EVC-P is constructed so that light cannot enter from outside but smoke can pass through the chamber slots. The EVC-P utilises the light scatter sensing principle. The LED pulses every 8 seconds to maintain a low monitoring current. A quick charge time 20 seconds is also achieved. The detector incorporates an alarm verification function which requires two successive pulses before an alarm is given.The interval between the first and second pulse is automatically reduced to four seconds after the first alarm level is monitored. The detector design provides strong immunity to air velocities contamination and RF interference. This enables the detector to contain all the necessary circuitry for excellent detection whilst filtering out and rejecting all unwanted signals that would normally result in a nuisance alarms e.g. ultra-sound radio frequency interference etc. The 5150 series will provide a 3 m radius of protection. Suitable for use on standard window glass plate wired tempered and laminated glass.Due to the design of the product the detector may be fitted as close as 2.5 cm from the window frame and still provide a full 3 m radius. The 5150 series detectors are passive sensors therefore any number of detectors may be installed on the same windowpane without the risk of interaction. Apollo Deckhead Mounting Box 45681-217APOMechanical ConstructionThe Deckhead Mounting Box is used on its own in most cases but there are applications where either an extension sleeve or an adaptor ring is required. The Extension Sleeve is required when fitting heater or deep bases the Adaptor Ring is needed for fitting sounder bases beacon bases or sound beacon bases. Further details are given in the table below. The Extension Sleeve and the Adaptor Ring are sold as an Accessory Kit part no 45681-218.The Deckhead Mounting Box has 6 cable access ports for M20 glands and is secured to the mounting surface via two 5.4mm holes in the webs.Additional InformationFor more information refer to Installation Guide 39214-450 and Datasheets PP2364 PP2040.Safety NoteNOTES ON USE 1. Do not apply any sealing compound or use a gasket of any kind between the detector base and deckhead mounting box 2. Seal unused cable access ports with suitable blanking plugs. Sealing compound may be used provided that it does not at any time give off fumes or vapour which could affect any detector fitted to the base 5.
