Tom Sachs x NikeCraft Mars Yard 2.0
As we all know, Nike is masterful in its storytelling ability. One of its more phenomenal feats to date comes via this 2017 collaborative sneaker with artist Tom Sachs. Released in limited quantities, purchasing the Mars Yard 2.0 was no simple process. Prospective customers were required to sign up for Sachs Space Camp, which took place on NYCs Governers Island, to purchase. There was also an online buying option, but not without taking five tests of digital dexterity first. The Mars Yard 2.0 replaces the original Vectran material with a polyester warp-knit tricot mesh while inverting the protruding SFB sole for one more appropriate for street wear. Two different insoles of mesh and cork are also included. A message on the shoe-box reads: These shoes are only valid if worn, and worn to death by you. Posers need not apply. In other words, wear your sneakers, fam.
