Checkmate DenimYou love denim and are ready to move beyond the classic denim qualities. You're ready for checks! This fabric opens up a world of possibilities - just get out your sewing machine and start exploring.Denim that stands outThe two-coloured checks are woven into the fabric, giving an almost 3D effect. This is truly a perfect fabric for those who want to make designs, which stand out. Wear it with jackets, jeans, trouser suits and skirts. Go all in on denim and mix your look with regular denim. Or how about using them for interiors and bags? You can get a really cool tote bag with just a few stitches or unique cushions for the sofa. That's why we love denim!Denim is a great fabric. So there you have it. Jeans and denim have been a staple in many wardrobes for years, and for good reason! It's a classic that everyone can wear and you can use it for all kinds of creative endeavours. Denim is made from cotton yarn woven in a tight twill weave, making it a highly durable and long-lasting fabric. It also has a distinctive texture that develops a beautiful patina over time - both with use and washing. Additional detailsThis denim is made from 90% cotton and 10% polyester in a heavyweight quality of 10.5 oz (1 oz (ounce) equals approximately 28 grams. A higher number means a heavier/higher density fabric). The fabric measures 170 cm in width, and of course you can choose the length yourself, but remember to factor in that it shrinks 6% when washed. NB: Always wash denim before use to avoid staining.  Remember to use a jeans needle and a strong denim thread.

Finest velvet for DIY!Let's just tell it like it is: Velvet has a superior surface. The very soft evenly distributed ridges repeat rigorously throughout the fabric add elegance and just the right retro feel to your project.Baby velvet is a soft woven material with short pile and 21 wales (hence the fine narrow ridges). It is a tough material that is suitable for clothing and DIY projects for the home. Using baby velvet for children's clothes - and much moreThe narrow ridges look great on children's clothes, where they really stand out. Whether it's used for trousers, jumpers, a spencer or a small suit - it's entirely up to your designs and preferences. Whatever you choose, you'll always get a great result. But baby velvet is also great for home sewing projects - from cushions to decorations and doorstops. It's a great look and fits in well with Scandinavian style. Velvet is sold by the metre, so simply order the length you need. The width is 140 cm and the fabric shrinks about 6% in the wash. Please remember to use the right needles - we recommend a size 80 universal needle. What is Wales?Wales indicates the width of the raised ridges in the velvet that defines the velvety texture of the fabric. A low Wales indicates wide ridges i.e. less ridges per inch. On the other hand, a high Wales indicates narrow ridges. For example velvet with 4 Wales per inch has wide ridges and will feel heavier, while velvet with 21 Wales per inch has narrow ridges and will feel finer. What is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®?OEKO-TEX® is the world-leading label for textiles tested for harmful substances.Once the fabric has achieved a STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification, it is your guarantee it has been tested and approved not to contain any harmful chemicals.Meaning it is neither harmful to you nor your health and it’s less harmful to the environment.
