Om Mani Padme Hum 108 Bone Mala with Skull Pendant - Fair Trade
Om Mani Padme Hum mantra brown yak bone mala for meditation. The beads measure approximately 8x5mm and are strung together on a solid (non elasticated) strong thread.
Bone is a significant material because it reminds us of our own mortality. It signifies impermanence, suffering and change. Bone is sacred to Kali, Durga & Shiva.
Hindu tradition holds that the correct way to use a mala is with the right hand, with the thumb flicking one bead to the next, and with the mala draped over the middle finger. The index finger represents ego, the greatest impediment to Self-Realisation, so it is considered best avoided (as with the ego) when chanting on a mala.
These malas are designed by our team at The Bo Tree and then hand made by local artisans in Kathmandu Nepal using ethically sourced local materials. When buying from The Bo Tree you are helping to improve the standard of living for rural families in Nepal.
Please note that all our items are handmade so slight variations will naturally occur, no two are the same.
