William Boyce: Gavot From Symphony No. 4 (Organ)
In the 18th century, William Boyce was recognized as one of Britain’s most versatile and accomplished composers. The composer’s inventiveness and musicality are apparent in this late Baroque Gavot, which is a fine choice for processionals.Composer, Organist, and ecclesiastical arranger Wlliam Boyce was one of the leading musicians of his day. He completed the great tome Cathedral Music following the death of the editor which is still in use in Anglican services. He was widely celebrated for his odes, anthems, masques, incidental music and in particular his eight symphonies, from which this short dance is drawn. His work is enjoying a new appreciation.
