Många av brickorna kan användas under spelet, och de underlättar avsevärt inställningar och röjningstider. Brickorna är arrangerade i två lager enligt bilden nedan. Observera att viscounts-bitarna är placerade under slottet och att de två lagren av brickor är åtskilda av två av spelarbrädorna. Inlagan innehåller ett stort fack för förvaring av både stora och små kort. Dessutom finns det två fack i normal storlek för stora kort. Det finns utrymme för alla kort att sleeves med kvalitetshylsor. Det finns en bricka för var och en av spelarpjäsens färger och två brickor för resurser och runda markörer. Many of the trays can be utilised during the game, and they greatly aid set-up and clear-away times. The trays are arranged in two layers as shown below. Note that the viscounts pieces are placed underneath the castle, and that the two layers of trays are separated by two of the player boards. The insert includes one large tray for storing both large and small cards. In addition there are two regular sized trays for large cards. There is space for all cards to be sleeved with quality sleeves. There is one tray for each of the player piece colours, and two trays for the resources and round markers. Note that the manuscript tiles do not have a tray, they are instead placed in-between the player piece trays resting on a sloped wall of the larger card tray. As these tiles are all placed directly on the board during setup they do not need a dedicated tray during game play. The coin tray works equally well with either the card coins from the game, or the upgraded metal coins. When packing the box, first place the remaining two player boards on top of the trays to cover them. Then place the rule book, followed by the main board segments. When packing the box, first place the main game board on top of the insert trays. The oval mango tree tile is placed inside one of the filler trays. The string and top of the bag should be tucked down next to the board as shown. This fills the box to the top and allows for vertical storage of both boxes. When clearing the game away and packing the box, first place the start player marker on top of one of the card decks. Then place all the game board goes on top of the trays acting as a lid. On top of these place the rulebook. This fills the box lid squarely to the top and allows for vertical storage. When fully packed the lid will be raised by 2.3 cm, though due to the neutral tone of the box base this does not affect too much the way the box looks on the shelf. The revised design now works with both the original edition and revised edition of the game, with space for either sized player board. With the top layer removed you can see the second layer of trays underneath. Each clan has it's own tray for its coloured components. Each player will take a tray with his chosen colour of clan pieces at the start of the game. The goods tokens each have separate slots to give easy access during the game.There is one long tray for the export contracts. There are two trays for the coins, a tray for the clan tiles, and a tray for the port bonus tiles, scoring tiles, and other game pieces. The coin trays work equally well with either the card coins from the base game or the alternative metal coins. As mentioned above many of the trays can be used during the game to organise the components and make access by all players easy. The game boards need to be placed in the box in the following sequence. First go the player boards in a recess on the right hand side of the insert. Then go the rules, followed by the market and export boards. The map boards and MacDonald tile go last, with the player aids and score sheet next to them. this fills the box to the top, and with the lid closed flush the box can be stored vertically. The insert design also works with the original edition of the game, where the player boards are narrower being only 10 cm wide. When used with this edition the long export contract tray is assembled differently and is placed the other way round in the box as shown below. This leaves a narrower recess for the smaller player boards. The two alternative methods of assembling the export contract tray can be seen here. Many of the trays can be utilised during the game, and they greatly aid set-up and clear-away times. The boards and rulebooks act as a lid on top of the trays.  The insert is arranged in up to three layers, with large square trays for the player pieces on the bottom layer. There are seven player trays. Each tray has space for eight terrain tiles with one side showing the terrain for that player colour. Should you need more you can take them from one of the trays not in use. Each player tray also has space for one palace placeholder tile and a 100/200 point token.  The eighth tray is for the white neutral pieces and the starting competency tiles. The insert includes one large tray for the game cards, faction tiles and round bonus tiles. There is room for all the cards to be sleeved. ll tokens and tiles are split by type. The resource trays can all be placed next to the game board during game play. Once the insert trays are packed into the box you need to add the planning displays on top of the player trays.  Next add the two small book tile trays on the left hand side, together with the rule books. Then place the game board, science display and inter-locking additional innovation display boards on top of the rule books. The turn order display and action overview tiles are added in a single layer followed lastly by the innovation display base section.
